Module Overview
This is Module 2 of the SIMFX® Application Skills course. Module 1 (Introduction to Trauma Makeup) or equivalent foundation is the ideal starting point.
Building on Module 1, this module develops your moulage artistry for high-fidelity trauma simulation. You will learn to create complex wound patterns including blast injuries, gunshot wound trauma, burns across varying severity and surface area, lacerations with embedded foreign objects, and ulcers and bites. Designed for anyone who already has foundational moulage skills and wants to work at a higher level of technical realism.
Learning Outcomes
- Apply blast injury profiles using silicone and specialist products
- Create gunshot wound trauma including entry and exit wounds with realistic tissue response
- Construct burn patterns across varying severity levels and surface areas
- Produce lacerations incorporating foreign object elements
- Replicate ulcer and bite wound presentations for assessment training
- Adapt moulage to multi-casualty triage scenarios at scale
- Standardise wound presentations for reproducibility across exercise rotations
Who Is This For?
Open to anyone who wants to develop more advanced moulage skills. Some prior moulage experience is advisable, and Level 1 is the ideal foundation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have completed Level 1?

Cards to support you
Each card is a complete casualty briefing, triage identification, moulage instructions, and actor behaviour cues. Assign one to each casualty actor during simulation support.
After completing Level 2, these cards become a working tool for the complex wound profiles you can now produce. Take them into your exercises to brief actors accurately, maintain reproducibility across rotations, and put your new techniques directly into operational practice.
