Sourcing

The right kit can be hard to find

Most trauma simulation materials are specialist items not stocked in high-street stores. Knowing what to buy, where to buy it, and how much to spend depends on the scenarios you are running and the frequency of your training programme. We identify exactly what each scenario needs and help you source it.

Products we source

The products we work with are grouped here as bloods, silicone, palettes and tools. We can advise across all of them, whether you are starting from scratch or extending an existing kit.

Simulation blood products

Bloods

Theatrical and medical-grade blood effects for external bleeding, pooling, and contamination. Formulated for skin safety and accurate colour at training distances.

Platinum-cure silicone for wound prosthetics

Silicone

Platinum-cure silicone and pigment for building 3D wound prosthetics. Used across entry wounds, lacerations, burns, and degloving effects that need physical depth and texture.

Alcohol-activated colour palettes

Palettes

Alcohol-activated colour palettes for wound colouring, bruise layering, and skin tone adjustment. Includes specialist wheels for burns and contusion effects.

Simulation makeup tools and applicators

Tools

Applicator brushes, sponges, spatulas and more. The right tools affect application time and realism as much as the product choice itself.

Product safety

Genuine, professional grade products and advice

Simulation makeup goes on the skin of trainees and casualty actors. For that reason we use and recommend only recognised professional products, sold in line with UK cosmetics law.

Does SIMFX® sell own-brand makeup?

No. Our specialism is Training. Our scenario-ready and top-up kits contain sealed makeup sourced directly from official suppliers. We do not add our own label or any unnecessary markup. During training, we will show you the products we use and recommend, and point you to our suppliers when you need them.

Does SIMFX® decant products?

Not in the kits we sell. Decanting may be necessary on an exercise and during training (as seen here) but every product in a SIMFX® kit arrives sealed in its manufacturer's container, with the genuine label as required by UK cosmetics law, including ingredients, warnings, use-by date and batch number.

How does SIMFX® advise on products?

Our advice covers which product suits each simulated injury, and how to use it on courses and exercises. We work from the manufacturer's instructions and safety information, so the people applying and wearing a product follow the maker's own guidance.

Where are the products sold?

Specialist theatrical and special effects makeup suppliers stock them. Contact us for the supplier of any item.

What are SIMFX® kits and accessories for?

Our kits and accessories are designed to help to get you started and keep you stocked.

Support

From first purchase to a fully stocked simulation kit

Whether you are equipping a simulation room for the first time or expanding an existing kit to support new scenarios, we can advise at whatever level you need.

Product Identification

We map the effects in your scenarios to specific items and brands, so you know exactly what to order without spending time testing alternatives that may not work.

Starter Kit Guidance

For organisations new to trauma simulation, we specify a starter kit that covers the effects that come up regularly, without overspending on specialist items you will rarely use. A focused set of products that works across many scenarios.

Supplier Introductions

We have established relationships with specialist makeup and simulation suppliers. Where a direct introduction speeds up procurement or secures trade pricing, we can make it.

Ongoing Sourcing Support

As your scenario library grows, so does your product range. We advise on what to add as you introduce new injury types, ensuring your kit keeps pace with your training programme.
