A simple concept

Simulate.
Inoculate.

Throughout our aviation careers, we’ve seen that the best way to prepare people for high-stakes moments is to let them experience those moments in a controlled environment where mistakes become valuable lessons.

Outside of aviation, the concept is known as stress inoculation. Through realistic simulation and incremental exposure to high-fidelity scenarios, trainees can develop the neural pathways and muscle memory to perform under pressure.

When the real moment arrives, they’ve already been there.

It helped us, and we’ve seen it in action, so we’ve built SIMFX® around the concept.

The Team

About us

Jody Ann Yates, Artistic Director

Jody Ann Yates

Artistic Director

Jody leads the Simulation side of SIMFX®, bringing creative expertise and meticulous attention to detail to every course and project. As a specialist in moulage artistry, she has trained healthcare professionals, educators, and emergency services personnel in the techniques needed to create high-fidelity wound simulations. Her work bridges the gap between artistic skill and clinical realism, ensuring every simulation scenario looks, feels, and responds the way real injuries do.

Under Jody’s direction, all SIMFX® simulation courses are independently certified by The CPD Certification Service, meeting rigorous professional development standards. Her personable and practical approach means that delegates leave not just with knowledge, but with practical skills they can apply immediately in their own training programmes.

Jody also brings almost a decade of experience as former cabin crew for a large charter airline. That lived operational background informs the aviation-trauma side of SIMFX® and our work with cabin crew preparedness training.

Andy Yates, Technical Director

Andy Yates

Technical Director

Andy leads the Safety and Technology side of SIMFX®, drawing on over 20 years of experience as an airline pilot and simulator examiner. His career spans line operations, training, IT and information security, giving him a deep understanding of how high reliability organisations work from the inside out.

Andy’s advisory work covers safety and compliance, Part-IS information security, and emerging AI safety. He brings an evidence-based, operationally grounded approach to every engagement, helping organisations not just meet regulatory requirements, but build genuine safety culture.
